Course Description:

In this advanced R course you will improve your skills of using R and doing statistical analysis.

The course in June 2024 will focus on the topics

•Linear mixed models (LMMs) and
•Generalized linear mixed models (GLMMs)

This course builds on the knowledge you have from the Basic R Course. So you need to be familiar with R, with the basic statistics and the statistical methods provided in the Basic R Course (descriptive statistics, graphics, simple significance tests, checking assumptions for tests and models, factorial ANOVAs, linear and logistic regression).

Within the course you will get exercises and example data to apply everything that you learn directly. It is also possible to ask questions concerning your own projects and to bring your own data.

The course consists of 4 online meetings (each about 1.5 hours). The first 3 meetings start with a Q&A part about the last topic and the exercises followed by an input with the new topic. The last meeting is a final Q&A session. Between the appointments you will have to work on exercises on your own.

Course aims:

Advanced statistical methods and their implementation with R (3 topics, the topics will still be selected after consultation with the participants)

Teaching methods:

Live online Presentation of statistical topics, Software tutorials with examples, Exercises for self study, Q&A sessions

This course fits doctoral candidates in the following phase:

☒ Beginn der Promotion / Beginning of the doctorate
☒ Während der Promotion / During the doctorate
☒ Endphase der Promotion / End of the doctorate

Participation requirements:

Participation in the Basic R course or good knowledge of the basics in R, RStudio and statistical methods.

Technical requirements:

PC, laptop with R and RStudio installed (open source); internet access
