Welcome to DocGS, the online portal for doctoral candidates at the Technical University of Munich!
DocGS is the central online portal for doctoral students at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Here you register as a doctoral candidate and then apply for entry in the doctoral list. However, by registering in DocGS you are not yet a member of the TUM Graduate School. Membership only exists after your documents have been successfully reviewed by the doctoral institution.
DocGS maps the entire doctoral cycle and accompanies you through your doctorate until completion. You can use DocGS to register for the kick-off seminar or to apply for funding for stays abroad and course reimbursements. The administration of the data is of course carried out in compliance with data protection regulations.
Important: DocGS is not an application portal for a doctorate! All necessary information for the application can be found on the TUM-GS website.
An entry in the doctoral candidacy list does not automatically lead to the (re-)activation of the TUM account. If you do not have an active employee or student status, your degree awarding institution can create a guest account for you upon request
For doctoral students who registered on the doctoral list before January 1, 2014, please read here: Submitting your dissertation - TUM Graduate School
- You do not yet have a TUM ID?
- Please contact the guest administrator of your professorship or chair at TUM. If you do not know who the guest administrators at your chair are, it is best to contact your supervisor or colleague at the chair. Alternatively, you can send a short e-mail to it-support@tum.de stating your degree-awarding institution and ask for information about the responsible guest administrator.
- In the School of Natural Sciences there is a special arrangement for doctoral candidates with external supervisors who are not assigned to a chair. This is documented on the following website: https://academics.nat.tum.de/phd/roles-phd-candidate.html#tumid
