For doctoral candidates with an international background, it can be a real challenge to get into the non-academic job market here in Germany. The entry routes are unclear, the (often unwritten) rules of the game can seem mysterious and many can‘t offer German language skills.
This workshop encourages participants to prepare for this transition in a focused way and to create an action plan. Participants will reflect on what they can do and what they want to do, develop their own profile, identify their competencies and learn about networking. They will also be empowered by case-studies of numerous international doctorate holders who have successfully entered the job market.
- Developing your own qualification-based profile
- Recognising and illustrating your competencies
- Advice on and strategies for accessing the non-academic job market
Short inputs by the trainer, self-reflection, small group activities, partner work, peer feedback
