Course Description: 

This workshop aims to provide the knowledge and tolls necessary for efficient data handling throughout any research project. Attendees will explore strategies for data organization, preservation, and sharing to enhance the reproducibility and impact of their research.

Course aims: 
  • Learners can explain the FAIR principles and common applications in their domain
  • Attendees understand the meaning of FAIR in the context of Research Data Management and know how to handle, prepare and publish their data and metadata accordingly.
  • Participants have an overview of different types of storage and their use-cases, including version control, while ensuring data compliance, protection, and sovereignty

This course fits doctoral candidates in the following phase:

Technical requirements: 

For online participation: Laptop/tablet with stable internet connection, microphone, webcam, Teams.

Course preparation: 

Please make yourself familiar with your data and its’ corresponding metadata. Any questions you have can be discussed (during or after the course).

Frederik Dröst

Frederik Dröst is a Data Steward working for the Technical University of Munich. He is part of the TUM Research Data Hub and the Munich Data Science Institute, where he is responsible for organizing the university’s data management efforts with a focus on computing infrastructures and community initiatives. With a background in bioinformatics, his expertise lies in data analyses, data handling and data ethics.
