| From Research to Impact - How you turn your research into practice | 10.06.2026 17:00 - 19:00 (Wed) | TUM Graduate School: Boltzmannstraße 17, 85748 Garching bei München, Raum E003 | Alejandra Melendez, Dr. Andrea Grigorescu, Dr. Tobias Ruzok, Dr. Carmen Baur |
This event gives doctoral candidates a clear overview of the entrepreneurial pathways and support services available across the Venture Lab and UnternehmerTUM innovation ecosystem. You’ll get a compact introduction to key funding opportunities—including EXIST Research Transfer and FLÜGGE—and how to leverage them for your next step.
Afterwards, two founders will share how they made the leap from dissertation to startup, including practical lessons, pitfalls, and what they’d do differently. The session opens into an interactive discussion with plenty of room for Q&A, and wraps up with short closing remarks followed by networking.
Doctoral candidates get a clear, practical view of how to turn research into entrepreneurial impact—plus a curated overview of the support and funding available for science-based startups. They’ll hear directly from founders with doctorates, learn what the journey really looks like, and have plenty of space to ask their own questions.
Takeaways:
- Orientation in the innovation & startup ecosystem (e.g., Venture Lab, UnternehmerTUM)
- Understanding of key funding paths for research-based ventures (e.g., EXIST, FLÜGGE)
- Clarity on how to transfer research results into entrepreneurial projects (from idea to venture)
