Course Description:

Staying Sane in Academia, Maintaining Joy and Fulfillment at Work

Participants learn to confidently master challenging situations – with the goal of growing, strengthening their resilience, and building self-confidence. They develop constructive ways of dealing with failures and setbacks and recognize how to draw personal resources from challenges.

A further focus is on self-organization: Participants learn what they need to pay attention to in order to remain functional and healthy despite a heavy workload. They understand the vicious circle of stress and how they can influence it. They learn practical methods and techniques that can be easily integrated into everyday academic life – for greater mental strength, clarity, and composure in everyday work.

Course aims:
  • Self-awareness
  • Self-motivation
  • Self-calming
  • Self-organization
  • Emotional regulation
Teaching methods:

Impulses from research of current empirical findings on resilience, self-leadership, and mental strength – concise, understandable, and practical. Self-reflection and mental exercises: participants reflect on their own behavior and experiences in challenging situations. Targeted mental techniques – e.g., the WOOP method (Wish – Outcome – Obstacle – Plan) – help promote inner clarity and the ability to act. Activating personal resources through targeted exercises, participants learn to draw on their own strengths, values, and motivation – especially during stressful or uncertain times. Self-management techniques for everyday life: practical tools such as agile working methods, the Pomodoro technique, and prioritization tools help them better handle heavy workloads and use their energy wisely.
