Course Description:

Practical elements to understand what is entrepreneurship and if this is for me?

The aim of this course is to provide elements to better understand:

  1. What is entrepreneurship and if this is “for me” ?
  2. How new technology gets adopted ?
  3. And finally, how to secure financing for your startup ?

The lectures aim at being pragmatic and practical. Many of the concepts described also apply to having an entrepreneurial attitude even if you do not work in a startup.

Course aims:
  • The first session describes what really happens in a startup. Elements like team building, risk management and considerations on financial impact will be discussed. We also explain what entrepreneurship is beyond just strong research.
  • In the second session, we explore how innovations get accepted. We dwell on the concept outlined by Geoffrey Moore in his classic book: “Crossing the Chasm” which is one of the most influential books read in Silicon Valley.
  • The final session will give keys on how to secure funding for a startup. We will both describe how VCs operate, how to get started and how to manage the first and most difficult discussions with Venture Capitalists.

Please note that the topics in sessions 2 and 3 can be of value regardless of whether you become an entrepreneur or not.
