The period of the doctorate is coming to an end and you are looking for a job. In this workshop you will learn about the published and hidden job market. You will learn how to get information about the hidden jobs in your field. We discuss how you can use external recruiters for your market analysis. We reflect digital visibility to support job searches. And we also clarify the typical questions:

  • Visibility in the application process. Where does it make sense to be more visible online and especially with what topics?
  • What do I have to consider in order to become visible to recruiters? How do I receive job offers?
  • What do companies expect from doctoral candidates?
  • What are the differences in working between science and business or industry?
  • Is the period of the doctorate work experience or does it not count?
  • What do I indicate in my salary expectations?
  • Who and what can I reach via social media channels?
  • Which keywords are important to me and how do I develop them in order to be visible as a scientific expert?

And the many other questions that come from you and the other participants.

Lernziele: 
  • Transfer into everyday life: Creating a market analysis to see published and hidden jobs in your own field.
  • Comparison of your own goals with the available job market and the benefits of recruiters
  • Knowledge of optimizing visibility for the application process

Katja Wolter studied economics in Stralsund and Liverpool (England). She worked in controlling for an international building materials manufacturer in Frankfurt am Main, then for ARD in Berlin and later as Director of Finance and Controlling for Deutsche Entertainment AG in Berlin. Since 2013 she has headed the Steinbeis Research Center - Institute for Resource Development in Greifswald. She is active in scientific coaching and advises doctoral students and postdocs.
