Students will learn how to get started with Python from scratch and will gather basic understanding of how programming works in Python. This is an elementary programming course designed for life science students with non-computational background. It is recommended to get basic understanding via courses such as Introduction to R and basic statistics. This course will be a prerequisite for the next course Python Advanced. The course is designed as a workshop and follows a few Q&A sessions.
Following topics will be covered:
•General overview on Python and libraries
• Variables, loops and functions
• Data structures and data sets
• Basic statistics using pandas and NumPy
•Data visualization using different plot types
My style is more towards blended learning and peer-review techniques towards the end of the course.
