Introduction to the course topics:

The 2-day training provides you with insights and tools to maneuver the hidden pitfalls of work across cultures. The result will be more effective strategies to deal with the ‘strange‘ or different behavior of superiors, colleagues, employees, peers or students – to get the best out of a global work environment in academia, work and daily life.

Course aims:

  • Knowing how to build trust with people from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Learning how to communicate adequately across cultures around the world.
  • Experiencing how to successfully manage cross-cultural encounters in academia, work and daily life.

Teaching methods: The contents of the training will be dealt with in a fun and interactive form: group activities, audio and visual input, joint laughter, aha-effects, (self) reflection, critical incidents, exchange of experience, moderated discussions, changes of perspective and analysis of best practice examples. Synchronous and asynchronous training methods will provide a relaxed yet effective learning atmosphere.

Participation requirements: None.

Literature: None

Technical requirements: None

Other information: The training is suitable both for international students living and working in a German academic environment – and for German students acting in a cross-cultural environment in Germany and/or around the world. We will have a culturally mixed group and make the very best use of it! :-)
