Introduction to the course topics:

Have you ever felt like some parts of your personality and work are not entirely visible? Keen on growing your professional visibility? Personal branding can be the key to unlock your potential. A way in which others – superiors, future employers, fellow researchers – truly see your skills, achievements and engagement.

For most of us, self-marketing is a big step out of our comfort zone, but also the most successful way to develop our careers. A personal brand enables us to communicate authentically and confidently. Clarity about the following topics will help you to build your personal brand:

  • What are your interests, topic(s) and passion?
  • Which are your strengths and values?
  • What is your goal?
  • What is your USP (unique selling point)?
  • Who are your target groups and how do you reach them?

On this basis, we

  • Define your personal brand
  • Create and practice your elevator pitch which helps you get your message across when it matters
  • Develop a „first-steps-plan“ which allows you to implement your personal brand right away!

Barbara von Graeve has worked in media and marketing since the beginning of her career, 9 years of which she spent at the marketing magazine Werben & Verkaufen. Here, as head of the events department, she built up and expanded the business unit, in particular through innovative seminar and conference concepts. There, Barbara also founded the W&V Women's Network so that women in the media and marketing industry could network and support each other in a targeted manner. Since 2018, the graduate brand sociologist has been consulting companies on diversity topics for FKi, developing and holding workshops, trainings and lectures, and managing various event projects, such as the Impact of Diversity Award. Barbara has been running the courses for doctoral students at the Technical University of Munich since 2018.
