Introduction to the course topics:

This course will not teach rational tools and how to use a point system in excel tables for making the one and only right decision. It rather claims guiding you through some self-reflective lessons to understand which biases, stereotypes and emotions influence your decisions – and why they do so. This course is about getting aware of own biases, actively accept them and understand where you might struggle in decision processes due to them. This will lead to better informed decisions, made more responsibly.

Course aims:

  • Analyzing biased thinking and processes in daily working situations
  • Making more deliberate decisions
  • Be able to make decisions based on coaching-questions
  • Get to know aspects influencing (un)aware moments in thinking and decision processes
  • Get to know strategies how to deal with difficult and stressful situations in decision processes
  • Understand, accept and deal with the fact that you cannot completely eliminate biases and (biased) emotions in decisions – make better decisions by knowing and accepting this

Teaching methods: Scientific input, work in goups, (own-)research, coaching-elements, peer-coaching & reflection, collegial advice
