Going Places - Aiming for an International Academic Career (online) | 05.05.2021 09:00 - 13:00 (Mi) | online | Dr. Eva Reichmann |
When recruiting academics, Universities and research institutes worldwide aim for the same skills:
• proven and visible success as a researcher
• leadership and/or team skills
• an interesting personal network
• the ability to acquire funding
• if teaching is involved: proven teaching skills
The most important skills for an academic career abroad are the ability to obtain information about the specifics of the respective country - and the ability to shape and present your academic profile according to these requirements.
An "academic portfolio" is a good tool to become aware of your competences and to promote your merits in an application - and it is required for application at some universities abroad.
During the workshop we will
• introduce the tool "Academic Portfolio" for your profile building - and for application
• explore strategies to build an international personal network
• explore ways to promote your merits
Mind: The workshop can not answer all country-specific questions but will provide a search strategy for gaining that information. (Workshop can provide some insight on Australia/New Zealand, Scandinavian countries, Austria, Switzerland).
