Designing effective Academic Posters | 09.01.2020 09:00 - 17:00 (Thu) | Raum 108: TUM Graduate School, Boltzmannstr. 17, 85748 Garching | Tim Korver |
Course Description:
This course will help guide you in how to design and then present your poster. We will look at what is good design with a focus on clear layout - how to use text and visuals effectively within the poster format.
In the context of the Research Conference Poster, space is very limited, and this space needs to be used to convey only one or two key messages. Bad layouts and too much text make audiences impatient. A poster is not a journal article that is simply pasted into a poster format. Instead, we will look at guidelines for developing an effective poster based on the messages you want to convey to your target audience.
Key seminar contents:
- developing principles of good design
- assessing good and bad examples of research posters
- developing your own key messages
- applying principles of clear and concise text to headings and sections
- holding brief poster presentations
