Beschreibung Kursinhalt:

As a doctoral candidate, you see yourself confronted with high expectations from both yourself and your supervisor. To achieve a fine balance between these demands without endangering your health or your private life, self-organization and a good time management are crucial.
During this online training, you will learn approaches and methods to help you succeed in this challenging task. The training consists of a balanced combination of theoretical input, practical exercises and first-hand experience relayed by the trainer.

This online training imparts basic techniques for asuccessful doctorate. You will:
• Learn to develop appropriate objectives and to divide complex
tasks into manageable units;
• Set priorities and focus on key tasks;
• Understand why we procrastinate and what to do about it;
• Identify ‘time sinks’ and organize your work-flow in a
productive way

The training consists of an online course in the open-source learning management environment “Moodle” (GNU GPL) including live online workshops given in the open-source
online workshop system “BigBlueButton” (GNU GPL). The Moodle course will provide
all necessary information for the preparation and follow-up exercises of every module,
as well as a platform for discussions among and feedback from all participants and the
trainer. Prior to the course an account on moodle.gyger-training.de will be created for
every participant using first name and last name and an email adress.
All participants are kindly asked to register to the Moodle platform at least one day
before the start of the training. The online workshops can only be accessed via the
Moodle platform. Please log in to the online workshop sessions 10 – 15 min. before the
beginning of every online workshop in order to handle potential technical problems and
allow us to start in time.

Hardware and Software requirements

To participate in the online course, the following hardware and software is required:

• Computer with a stable internet access (recommended minimum effective download rate of 12 MBit/s, minimum effective upload rate of 2 MBit/s)

• Webcam and microphone, preferably headset for better sound quality

• A text program (e.g. Word, LibreOffice) and a PDF editor (e.g. xournalpp, acrobat)

• Pen and paper
